There are 796 prized possessions belonging to the estate of Alfredo Di Stéfano, who is among the all-time legends in the history of football. Di Stéfano was an Argentine-born professional footballer and coach, having played and coached all over the world. He began his career at Argentina’s prestigious club, River Plate. Following a football strike in 1949 in Argentina, Di Stéfano went to play for Millonarios of Bogota in Colombia. He spent six years in Argentina and Colombia, scoring 149 goals during that time, before signing with Real Madrid in 1953. That is where his iconic status was truly built. Di Stéfano led the Spanish club side to eight league titles in his 11 seasons there, along with five consecutive European Champions Cups having scored in the final in all five. Di Stéfano won the Ballon d’Or in 1957 and 1959, and is the only player ever awarded the Super Ballon d’Or in 1989.

Former UEFA President Michel Platini called Di Stéfano “a great amongst the greats,” meanwhile, another footballer legend Eusebio da Silva Ferreira suggested Di Stefano was “the most complete footballer in the history of the game.”
